Brief Health Check
Take 15 minutes to check in on your health
When did you last have your blood pressure checked? Do you know whether your blood sugar is within a healthy range? Or your risk of an irregular heartbeat?
Our Free Brief Health Check gives you a quick snapshot of some important measures of your health, with an experienced GP there to explain what they mean.
It takes around 15 minutes, there’s no charge, and there’s no obligation to book anything else.
A quick check could tell you something useful
It’s easy to put your health to one side when you’re feeling well. But some common health problems can develop without causing obvious symptoms.
During your Free Brief Health Check, we’ll take a small number of simple measurements that can help identify whether there’s anything worth paying closer attention to.
We’ll check your:
- Blood pressure
- Pulse
- Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Blood glucose
- Heart rhythm for signs of atrial fibrillation (AF)
Most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your results with an experienced GP.
For many people, the result will simply be reassurance. If something does warrant further attention, we can explain what we’ve found and what you might want to do next.

More than a set of numbers
Health checks are only useful if you understand what the results mean for you.
Your GP will consider your measurements in context and talk you through anything that stands out. If everything looks as we’d expect, we’ll tell you that too.
And if one of your results suggests that it would be sensible to investigate something further, we’ll explain why and discuss the options available to you.
That doesn’t mean committing to further private treatment. You remain in control of what happens next.
Is this a full health assessment?
No. The Free Brief Health Check is deliberately brief. It provides a useful snapshot of a small number of important health measures, but it isn’t intended to provide a comprehensive assessment of your health or replace medical care for an existing concern.
If you’d like a more detailed assessment of your current health, risks and priorities, our Complete Health Check provides a much more comprehensive review with one of our GPs.
And if you have a symptom or health concern you’d specifically like a doctor to assess, you should book a Private GP Appointment rather than relying on the Brief Health Check.
Who can book?
The Free Brief Health Check is available to eligible adult patients as a limited-term introductory offer at The Chislehurst GP.
It’s intended as a brief preventative health check rather than an appointment to investigate specific symptoms or manage an existing condition.
Appointments are subject to availability, and are limited to one Free Brief Health Check per person.
What happens if we find something?
Most people who book a health check aren’t expecting to discover a serious problem. If one of your results does need further attention, your GP will explain what it means and what they recommend.
That could be as simple as monitoring something over time or making a lifestyle change. In other circumstances, we might recommend a further GP appointment, blood tests, imaging or another investigation.
You can choose whether to arrange further care privately with us, speak to your NHS GP, or use another healthcare provider. Any additional services from us are optional and will always be explained and priced separately.
Common Questions
A chance to try our experienced GPs
Our approach to private general practice is straightforward: give you the time to be heard, provide high-quality clinical advice, and help you make informed decisions about your health.
You can continue using your NHS GP alongside us. Some patients come to us for quicker access or more time to discuss something that has been worrying them; others use private care for particular areas of their health while continuing to rely primarily on the NHS.
There’s no expectation that booking a Free Brief Health Check means becoming a regular private patient.
