MRI Referrals
MRI scans help doctors see detailed images inside your body to better understand what may be causing pain, discomfort, or other symptoms. They are particularly useful for looking at joints, muscles, nerves, and organs.

What’s the service?
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scans provide highly detailed images of the inside of the body using magnetic fields and radio waves. They are commonly used to investigate joints, muscles, the spine, brain, and internal organs, helping diagnose a wide range of conditions accurately and safely.
If symptoms have persisted, or if other tests haven’t provided answers, an MRI can offer valuable clarity. It’s often the best way to investigate sports injuries, back pain, headaches, or joint problems in more detail.
What’s involved?
Your GP will discuss your symptoms and determine whether an MRI scan is appropriate. If needed, we’ll arrange a referral through our trusted diagnostic partner at Lyca Health Orpington. During the scan, you’ll lie still on a scanning table while detailed images are taken. MRI scans are painless and do not use radiation, although they can take longer than some other imaging tests. Once completed, the images are reviewed by specialist radiologists, and your results are returned to your GP for discussion.

Why might I want this?
An MRI scan can help investigate ongoing pain, injuries, neurological symptoms, or unexplained health concerns in far greater detail than standard imaging. It is often the best option when soft tissues, nerves, or joints need closer examination.
